Annette Hurley
Managing Director
Annette Hurley is the Managing Director of Career Development and Management Guru. She has over 30 years’ experience in human resource management specialising in recruitment and selection, training and career development and management.
After a successful career in administration and sales Annette commenced her HR career as the marketing manager and placement officer at a private business college which specialised in retraining women to re-enter the workforce.
Annette later joined a hospitality recruitment agency to manage their hospitality division which serviced a broad range of local, national and international hospitality clients. She then joined an international recruitment company where she recruited across a broad spectrum of positions from executive though to management and service personnel across a wide variety of industries and professions.
After a flourishing career Annette founded her own executive recruitment consultancy, private employment agency, career and development centre and registered training organisation which she successfully grew and managed for over a decade.
Ill health and a change in family circumstances led Annette to rethink her own strategy. She decided to take some time out to heal and be with her young family. This led her on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. She describes this life changing event from both a personal and professional perspective as the best thing that happened to her.
In 2009 Annette began lecturing and tutoring in both undergraduate and post graduate subjects at Griffith University Business School and later at Open Universities Australia. She continues to teach in a variety of business and communication subjects. She has been invited to write, lecture and tutor in a number of management and communication courses including the co-creating and presenting the post graduate recruitment and selection course and creating presenting the undergraduate recruitment and selection course. She trusts the guidance she gives her students inspires them become more compassionate and caring managers, recruiters.
Annette has a passion for service. She values her clients and looks forward to continuing to assist her growing number of clients to find their passion, find the perfect candidate and to create greater harmony in the workplace.
Annette holds a current Blue Card.
